We are very excited about this new Ancient model coming out this late February 2011, RHM5005 "Drekinn, Chthonic Hydra". I've labeled this as a WIP Journal because this is where you'll find all the updates on the sculpting progress. This beast of nightmares roams the dark swamps of the Wastelands of Shindora. An army that can harness this great beast will surely have a force of ungodly power to unleash upon their enemies. Concept Art:

Ok so here's the next update... the armature. Not a whole lot to look at but it will show the skeletal framing of the beast. As for the actual size it'll be approximately 4" inches from head to toe and about 6" 1/2" inches long. The base of the neck is kind of like a six shooter and you'll see on the neck portion of the armature it ends in a peg that will allow each head to plug right into each neck hole.

Here is the first head.... there will only be about three or so more updates from this point before the final sculpt is unveiled. The sculpting process went very fast and the entire project is already finished and off to the mould makers. You can now pre-order these at www.fantization.com . They should be shipping in mid to late February. Thanks, Steve - RH

Huge update for today... all six heads with all the fins attached. A few adjustments where made including the eyes were smoothed out versus having the dashed pupil line sculpted in. Fine tuning of the neck scales etc... Anyway let us know what you guys think we take all constructive feedback in consideration. Have a great weekend. Steve - RH

Thank you Mother Nature! The master casting for Drekinn is stuck at FedEx in the Mid-West due to the sever weather conditions with no ETA according to FedEx. It was scheduled to arrive at the casters this past Monday, Jan. 31st. So at this point were hoping it arrives at the casters by the end of this week. We'll keep you posted here. Steve - RH

Here are the final work-in-progress shots. This will show the hydra's heads attached to the body armature and a mach-up with the artwork super imposed onto it so you can get an idea of the final sculpt. We did have a few minor change for the better, we have a slightly different tail design which ties it all together. Steve - RH

FedEx update on the master casting getting to the mold makers.
So according to FedEx Drekinn in suppose to be delivered today. However their "In Transit" title is listed in red with a delivary exception note stating that sever weather is still in effect. So we're keeping our fingers crossed it arrives today and the molds can be made over the SuperBowl weekend. If all does go well regular production should start sometime next week on it. I'll keep you posted here.
Thanks, Steve - RH

UPDATE: So the master sculpt made it to the mold makers this past Friday evening... a week late due to weather conditions but it got there thankfully. Production is about a week behind right now... but that's not a big deal at this point. I spoke with the mold maker yesterday and he has to make a few more molds for it this weekend with the first couple of castings arriving late next week to our studio for painting/marketing/packaging purposes on our end. Then the week of the Feb. 21st production should start. In between all of that we have to finalize all the printing for the packaging and characters cards for Drekinn. The pics below show Drekinn about 95% complete... there were a few minor adjustments made on the scales trasitioning from the main body to the tail section, it's a much smoother look now. As well as texture adjustments to the skins and scales all over. Also I threw in Drekinn's box cover, hope you like them. Let us know what you think of it. Steve - RH

To see Drekinn fully assembled is freaking awesome, Steve and I Have been play testing this nasty beasty and let me tell you he will not disappoint, just making a few game tweaks.
